6. Fuel Injector Fitting & Installation Guidance
Fuel injectors are precision components and may operate as part of high-pressure fuel systems. SelectParts Ltd recommends that injectors are installed by a suitably qualified technician using the vehicle manufacturer's recommended installation procedure and specifications. Where applicable, the injector may require coding, programming or adaptation following installation. Incorrect installation, failure to use required seals or components, contamination, incorrect coding or an unrelated vehicle/fuel-system fault may affect injector operation. This information does not remove or restrict any statutory rights relating to defective or non-conforming goods. Please read before fitting your injector. To help ensure reliable operation and to protect your warranty, please follow the guidance below. SelectParts Ltd recommends that fuel injectors are installed by a suitably qualified technician using the vehicle manufacturer's workshop information, torque specifications and installation procedures, and any coding. SELECTPARTS LTD IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INCORRECTLY INSTALLED INJECTOR 1. Before Installation: Confirm that the injector part number is correct for your vehicle and engine. Compare the replacement injector with the removed injector before installation. Check the injector, electrical connector and fuel connections for any signs of damage. Ensure the correct injector seal, copper washer, O-ring or other required components are available. Clean the surrounding area before removing the original injector to prevent contamination entering the fuel system. 2. Removing the Old Injector: Follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommended removal procedure. Never work on a common-rail fuel system while it is pressurised. Keep dirt, dust and other contamination away from exposed fuel-system components. Cap or protect exposed fuel lines and connections where appropriate. Do not force components that are seized or difficult to remove. 3. Installing the SelectParts Ltd Injector: Thoroughly clean the injector seat and surrounding area. Install a new injector sealing washer/seal where required. Replace single-use bolts, seals and other components where specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Do not reuse an old copper sealing washer unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer. Do not force, hammer or otherwise damage the injector during installation. Tighten the injector retaining components to the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque. Reconnect all fuel lines and electrical connections correctly. 4. After Installation: Depending on the vehicle, it may be necessary to prime or bleed the fuel system, enter the injector correction code/IMA/QR code into the ECU, carry out injector programming or calibration, perform injector adaptation or relearning procedures, and clear relevant fault codes. Always follow the manufacturer's workshop procedure for the specific vehicle and engine. 5. Final Checks: Check all fuel connections are correctly secured. Check carefully for fuel leaks. Confirm electrical connectors are fully seated. Confirm the engine starts and runs correctly. Check for warning lights or relevant fault codes. Complete any required injector coding/adaptation. Important Safety Information: Diesel common-rail fuel systems operate at extremely high pressures. Always follow safe working practices and the vehicle manufacturer's procedures. Incorrect removal or installation can cause serious injury, fuel leaks, engine damage or vehicle failure. SelectParts Ltd recommends that fuel injectors are installed by a suitably qualified technician using the vehicle manufacturer's workshop information, torque specifications and installation procedures. Incorrect fitting, contamination, failure to replace required seals/bolts, incorrect coding or an underlying vehicle/fuel-system fault may cause injector failure and may affect warranty assessment. 7. Warranty & Security Identification
For warranty and returns purposes, SelectParts Ltd may use tamper-evident identification, sequential QC identification and/or an invisible UV security mark on supplied injectors. These identification measures are used to help verify that the injector returned is the same component supplied by SelectParts Ltd. Please do not remove, alter, damage or attempt to obscure any SelectParts Ltd identification or security marking. Any warranty return may be inspected before a warranty decision or refund is made. IMPORTANT Injector failure can be caused by factors unrelated to the injector itself, including: Fuel contamination Water or debris in the fuel system Incorrect installation Incorrect injector coding Damaged or incorrectly fitted seals Incorrect fuel pressure Faulty high-pressure fuel pump Blocked or contaminated fuel filter Electrical faults Engine or fuel-system faults For this reason, the underlying cause of an injector failure should be diagnosed before replacing an injector. SelectParts Ltd reserves the right for testing returned injectors prior to refunds — any injectors which are deemed as faulty as a result of incorrect fitting/damage will not be processed for a refund. WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS To help us assess any warranty claim, please ensure: ☐ Injector was fitted by a suitably qualified technician. ☐ Correct injector seals/washers were used. ☐ Manufacturer's specified fitting procedure was followed. ☐ Injector was coded/programmed where required. ☐ Fuel system was checked for contamination. ☐ Underlying fuel-system faults were investigated. ☐ Fitting invoice/receipt has been retained. If a problem occurs Do not continue operating the vehicle if doing so could cause further damage. Please contact SelectParts Ltd before removing or returning the injector where possible. A returned injector may be inspected and tested before any warranty decision is made.
8. How the Core Deposit Works
Where a refundable core deposit applies to a particular product, the amount, purpose and conditions applying to that deposit will be clearly stated before the customer enters into the relevant transaction. A core deposit is intended to secure the return of the customer's original corresponding component for remanufacturing/recycling purposes. Core deposits are separate from any warranty provided on the replacement product. A £45 refundable core deposit is charged when purchasing a SelectParts Ltd replacement injector. The deposit is made payable directly to the SelectParts Ltd business bank account and the refund is made from the business bank account back to the buyer's original account. SelectParts Ltd is unable to refund to a different bank account or accept credit cards - BACS only. The deposit is refundable when your original injector is returned to SelectParts Ltd within the agreed return period and meets the core-return requirements below. To qualify for a refund of the core deposit, the returned injector must meet all the following requirements: Correct manufacturer and model: The returned injector must be the original corresponding injector specified for exchange in the product listing and order. It must match the required manufacturer, model/type and applicable OEM or manufacturer part number, as stated in the listing or confirmed by SelectParts Ltd before purchase. No substitute components: The returned injector must not be a different manufacturer, model, type or part number from the required core. Aftermarket alternatives, incompatible injectors, counterfeit components and cheaper substitute products will not be accepted unless expressly approved in writing by SelectParts Ltd before return. Same original component: The returned injector must be the original component removed from the vehicle for which the replacement injector was purchased. It must not be an unrelated injector obtained from another vehicle or source. No broken or cracked components: The injector must not have a broken, cracked, snapped, crushed or fractured body, casing, electrical connector or other component. No part of the injector may be missing as a result of breakage or deliberate removal. Injectors with physical breakage or damage that makes them unsuitable for the intended core-return purpose will not qualify for a core-deposit refund. Complete and substantially intact: All main injector components must be present. The injector must not have been deliberately dismantled, substantially modified or tampered with in a way that makes it unsuitable for assessment or remanufacturing. No deliberate destruction or contamination: The injector must not have been deliberately destroyed or contaminated with water, coolant or other foreign substances that make it unsuitable for the intended core-return purpose. Inspection and verification: SelectParts Ltd may inspect the returned injector, verify its manufacturer, model, part number and identifying features, and photograph or document its condition when received. Where appropriate, further testing may be undertaken to assess whether it meets these core-return requirements. Rejected core returns: If a returned injector does not meet these requirements, SelectParts Ltd will inform the customer of the reasons and the evidence supporting the decision. The core deposit will be handled in accordance with the disclosed deposit terms and applicable law. Important distinction: The core is a used component returned for remanufacturing or recycling. It is not required to be operational or free from ordinary internal wear or an existing mechanical or electrical fault, unless a specific additional condition has been clearly disclosed and agreed before purchase. However, it must meet the stated requirements for identity, completeness and physical condition. 28-DAY RETURN PERIOD Your original injector must be returned to SelectParts Ltd within 28 days of delivery of your replacement injector. Please retain your proof of postage until your return has been received and processed. For the £45 deposit to be refunded, the returned injector must: 1) Be the correct corresponding injector for the vehicle/application. 2) Be the injector removed from the vehicle for which the replacement was supplied. 3) Be complete and substantially intact. 4) Have the main injector body and components present. 5) Have the electrical connector intact where fitted. 6) Not have been deliberately dismantled or substantially modified. 7) Not be physically destroyed or severely damaged. 8) Not be contaminated with water, coolant or other substances. 9) Not be a different injector substituted for the original core. IMPORTANT Do not dispose of, dismantle or modify your old injector before your replacement has been successfully fitted and confirmed to be working correctly. RETURNING YOUR CORE Before sending your injector: 1) Place the injector securely in suitable protective packaging. 2) Ensure it cannot move around during transport. 3) Include your Order Number with the return card included with your purchased injector. 4) Use a tracked delivery service. 5) Keep your proof of postage until SelectParts Ltd confirms receipt. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE RECEIVE IT? 1. Receive — Your returned core is logged against your order. 2. Identify — The injector is checked against the relevant part number/application and order information. 3. Inspect — The core is checked against the SelectParts Ltd core-return requirements. 4. Accept or reject — If the core meets the requirements, the £45 deposit is refunded. 5. Notify — You will be informed if there is an issue with the returned core. LATE RETURNS Core returns must be received within 28 days if your purchased injector delivery. If your core is returned after the 28-day period, SelectParts Ltd reserves the right to withhold the deposit. IMPORTANT — CORE DEPOSIT WARRANTY The core deposit relates only to the return of your old injector. It is separate from the warranty applicable to the SelectParts Ltd injector you purchased. Returning your old injector does not affect your statutory consumer rights or any applicable SelectParts Ltd warranty. Any core deposit arrangement will be operated in accordance with applicable consumer law.
